NABH & NABL Accreditation & Certification

National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) is a constituent board of Quality Council of India, set up to establish and operate accreditation programme for healthcare organizations. The board is structured to cater to much desired needs of the consumers and to set benchmarks for progress of health industry. The boards while being supported by all stakeholders including industry, consumers, government, have full functional autonomy in its operation.

What is Accreditation?

A public recognition of the achievement of accreditation standards by a healthcare organization, demonstrated through an independent external peer assessment of that organization’s level of performance in relation to the standards.

Programs offered by NABH

NABH is offering accreditation programs for Hospitals, Small Health Care Organizations/Nursing Homes, Blood Banks and Transfusion Services, Oral Substitution Therapy (OST) Centres and Primary and Secondary Health Centres. A couple of more programs such as Medical Imaging services, Dental Hospitals/Centres, AYUSH Hospitals are being developed.

Requirements for NABH Accreditation

  • The organization defines and displays the services it can provide.
  • The organization has a well defined registration and admission process.
  • There is an appropriate mechanism for transfer or referral of patients, who do not match the organization resources.
  • During admission the patients and/ or the family members are educated to make informed decision.
  • Patients care for by the organization undergoes an established initial assessment.
  • All patients care for by the organization undergo a regular assessment
  • Laboratory services are provided as per the requirement of the patients.
  • There is an established laboratory quality assurance programme.
  • There is an established laboratory safety programme.
  • Imaging services are provided as per the requirement of the patients.
  • There is an established quality assurance programme for imaging services.
  • There is an established radiation safety programme.
  • Patient care is continuous and multi disciplinary in nature.
  • The organization has a documented discharge process.
  • Organization defines the content of the discharge summary.

  • Bio-Medical Waste Management and Handling Authorization *
  • Registration under Clinical Establishment Act(or Similar)*
  • Registration with Local Authorities *
  • AERB Certificate *
  • Registration for PNDT
  • Blood Bank Certificate
  • License for MTP
  • Pollution Control Certificate
  • Laboratory Equipment Calibration.
  • Fire NOC or Fire Audit
  • Narcotics Certificate
  • Hospital Rate List
  • Last 3 Years Balance Sheet
  • Bills of Equipments
  • AMC of Equipments
  • Certificate of nurses, RMO, technicians and Consultants.
  • Layout plan of building.
  • Ownership or lease agreement of premises.
  • ROHINI Registration UID of Hospital
  • FDA Pharmacy License
  • In case PPN hospital, Copy of tariff agreed with nodal TPA.
  • In case of outsourced pharmacy and laboratory or any other services, Copy of agreement for outsourcing.
  • Hospital Management structure and details of board of directors if it’s a partnership firm.
  • Sample Bills of discharge summary, Hospital final bill, Pharmacy bill.
  • Consultant List with Specialty (Along with Doctor Registration Number).
  • Complete Hospital Tariff list (Room Rents and Investigations).
